  • What is the link between OOSC and UNOC?
    • The One Ocean Science Congress (OOSC) is an official Special Event of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC), dedicated entirely to science. Held the week before UNOC, the OOSC serves as a scientific pillar to inform policy discussions. The congress is endorsed by the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
  • What is the official language of the congress?
    • All presentations (oral or poster) during the congress are expected to be in English.
    • It is essential that all presenters follow the presenter guidelines, which can be found at the following links:
  • Will translation be available during the congress?
    • French/Spanish to English interpretation will be provided for the opening session. Please see additional details in the file attached.

Registration & Participation

  • Is registration still possible?
    • Registration officially closed on 5 May as the venue has reached full capacity. We are no longer maintaining a waiting list. Please note:
      • Registration is not valid until payment has been completed.
      • On-site registration will not be possible.
  • Can I transfer my registration to a colleague?
    • No, registration transfers are not permitted. Additionally, oral presentations must be delivered in person; all speakers are required to attend on-site.
  • How can I cancel my registration?
    • If you need to cancel your participation, please email: oos2025@copernicus.org. Please note our cancellation policy:
      • A €50 cancellation fee applies to cancellations received before 15 May 2025, 23:59 CEST. Cancellations made after this deadline, as well as no-shows, are not eligible for a refund.
  • Is financial assistance still available?
    • No, the application process for financial support has now closed.
  • Do I need a visa to attend?
    • Each participant is responsible for obtaining their own visa. The OOSC does not cover visa fees or handle visa applications. We strongly recommend applying early. If you need support for an appointment or encounter delays, contact: enquiries@one-ocean-science-2025.org

Venue Access & Security

  • What are the security requirements for entering the congress venues?
    • To access the venues, each participant must present:
      • A valid ID (passport or national ID card)
      • A personalized badge with a QR code (issued via the Weezevent platform)
    • Please note:
      • Badges are personal and non-transferable.
      • QR codes issued during Copernicus registration will not grant access; new QR codes will be sent shortly.
      • All participants, including accompanying children, must be individually registered.
  • Are the congress venues wheelchair accessible?
  • Will there be a breastfeeding area?
  • Where will the plenary sessions, oral presentations, and town halls take place?
  • Where will the poster sessions be held?
    • Posters will be displayed at The Whale (Palais des Expositions). This venue will be open to the public and include contributions from partners during UNOC3.
    • A separate QR code may be required for access—updates will follow.
  • Can I still submit a presentation or poster?
    • No. All presentations (oral and poster) are limited to registered participants whose submissions were accepted during the call for abstracts. Late submissions cannot be accommodated.
  • Can I include the OOSC logo in my presentation?
    • Yes. You can download the official logo here.
  • Can pop-up banners be displayed?
    • No. Only standard posters are permitted in the poster display area.
  • Will booth spaces be available?
    • No. Due to logistical constraints, there will be no exhibition booths at the congress.

Commuting & Location Details

  • How far apart are the two congress sites?
    • The venues are 1.7 km apart. You can:
      • Walk (approx. 25 minutes)
      • Take the tramway (approx. 20 minutes, with one change)
  • How do I commute between the two sites?
    • There is no dedicated shuttle service. However, tramway services will be reinforced during the Congress:
      • Line 2: Port Lympia → Garibaldi (1 stop)
      • Line 1: Garibaldi → Palais des Expositions (2 stops)
    • You may also walk from Quai Infernet to Place Garibaldi (12 minutes) and then take the tram.
    • A 30-minute break is scheduled to allow for transfer between sites.

Accommodation

  • How do I book accommodation?
    • Our official accommodation partner is B-Network, which specialises in lodging for international events. Contact: unoc@bnetwork.com or visit https://unoc.bnetwork.com/
    • You may also choose to arrange your own accommodation.
  • Important Notice: Beware of scams. The organization called Travel Housing Team is not affiliated with OOSC. Please disregard any communication from them.

On-site Services

  • Will on-site assistance be available?
    • Yes, assistance desks staffed by OOSC volunteers will be available at Port Lympia throughout the day, until 17:30. A First Aid post will also be located near Room 5.
    • If you experience or witness any form of harassment, abuse, or a breach of the Code of Conduct during the congress, please report it to the assistance desks.

  • What are the catering arrangements?
    • A reusable water bottle will be provided upon entry.
    • Lunch boxes will be distributed at Port Lympia between 12:00 and 14:00.
      • Dietary details (including gluten-free options) are still being confirmed. Updates will be posted on the website.
    • Coffee breaks will be arranged at 10:00 and 15:30.
